On 17th November 2005 the glittering “Oscars of branding” Superbrands Tribute event was held at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg. 350 representatives of the brands featured in Superbrands Volume One were present at the event to accept their awards. Upon arrival, the elegantly attired guests were served Champagne and swept into a room containing stands and banners of many of the Superbrands featured in this first edition, creating the perfecting networking opportunity.

The main event, held in the Theatre of Marcellus, provided a stimulating mix of entertainment, interspersed with awards presentations to each of the brands. The MCs, broadcaster Jeremy Maggs and brand expert Andy Rice, provided some amusing insights into the local brandscape and facilitated a lively auction of a signed Proteas T shirt kindly donated by SA Cricket, the proceeds of which were donated to Cotlands.
